For VEGESNA FOUNDATION
If Ghantasala was alive today, he would be 85 on December 4th. A full thirty three years after his untimely death in 1974 at the age of 52, the memory of his remarkable voice is still fresh in the hearts of everyone who calls himself a teluguvaaDu.
And yet, thus far, the Telugu people of America have not had an opportunity to express our admiration and gratitude to this gaana gandharvudu. The Vegesna Foundation has come forward to organize a series of Ghantasala Aradhanotsavaalu. After conducting thirty programs in various cities across the United States, the Grand Finale of this will be in New York, on Sunday, December 2, just in time for his Birthday.
As the name suggests, this will be a time for all fans of the legend to relive some of the magic of his memory. There will be photo, video and audio presentations of rare material. There will be a concert of Ghantasala songs by Sri.Prabhakar and Smt.Mani Sastry.
Vegesna has been serving the differently enabled children of India for almost thirty years now. This series of events offers them an opportunity to raise funds for this worthy cause, and also pay their respect to the Maestro. The official poster for the event is attached below
